Review on ๐Ÿ”‹ Advanced LED Digital Battery Indicator Meter Gauge with Hour Meter for 36V Carts by Chadwick Webster

Installation and usage instructions are useless.

I bought a 36 volt version for an old golf cart. The first thing that caught my eye was the install and use cutout, the wording was bass chords ie When the red LED is on it means the battery is 90% charged. Should have been written as 10% capacity. Typical of any Asian-English translation. I worked side by side with Chinese engineers who didn't speak a word of English, and diagrams were our primary means of communication. So after looking at the two schematics I felt more comfortable. until closer inspection revealed wrong polarity on each circuit's battery. I threw away the instructions and relied on experience and gauge markings to complete the installation. I chose the "Switched" option. After installing the meter and running the trolley for a while, the meter did what it was supposed to do. When the batteries were very weak, I charged them. After recharging, the counter "sticksโ€ in the last position and shows the previous state of charge. Only after disconnecting and reconnecting the meter did it reset and show the correct charge level. After this discovery, I rewired the meter so that the meter is completely turned off with the key switch, which resets it every time the key is turned to the "OFF" position. I have NOT measured or tested the battery voltage at each LED location on the display as it just isn't worth the time or effort. Because the meter didn't reset or show a freshly charged state, I gave it low marks for accuracy. It's nice but I wouldn't recommend it or buy another.
