Review on 🧊 Aideepen TEC1 12715 Thermoelectric Cooling Heatsink by Chris Long

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Defective and insufficient units.

These TECs are not properly packaged for shipping. I received 5 broken units in two batches (10 total). See photos. I was able to sort the packages and get 5 whole units and I will be returning the rest. I tested them with a batch of Aidepen TEC1-12706 and found that they use twice as much electricity and don't pump as much heat. The tests were carried out on an equipped test bench with a hot-side temperature of 27 degrees. C (according to most specifications). These units reached a cold side temperature of about -1 degrees. C. Junior engines 12706 reached -5 degrees. C. Update: They were re-tested with the hot side connected to a 40mm water block running water glycol coolant through a 12 pipe radiator with a 120mm high speed fan. The cold side was mounted directly on a 10 x 5 x 1.5" high fin heatsink with an 80mm fan in a heavy 1.7" foam box (R-value -8.0). The cold side temperature reached 29.2 degrees and the hot side outlet temperature was 76 degrees. Entry side 67 degrees. 12V are supplied. The unit drew 8.2A. A comparison with the datasheet showed that the Qc had to pump over 40W for this build. Actual Qc calculated was around 25-30W. Would not recommend and will NOT buy again.

Pros
  • Heatsink
Cons
  • Socket required
