Review on 🦍 Ultra-Powerful Gorilla Micro Precise Super Glue: Unbeatable Bonding Strength and Precision by John Bennett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The applicator tip is quite large but it worked to secure the guitar frets.

Some gremlins recently grabbed my Schecter Omen Extreme 6 electric guitar and pulled out a few frets. This caused the notes played on the indicated frets to be muted. In "Why the hell did I do it!?" At this point, I grabbed a soft hammer and tried to knock back the frets. Not only did that not work, but a few more frets popped out. After learning on YouTube that you can glue the fretwire back in place, I bought this superglue because it's not gel and because of the "precise" applicator tip. I've also used Gorilla Glue Gel on 3D printed parts with great success. Armed with this glue and the push rod clamps, I got to work. The tip of the applicator was too big for me to gently apply the glue UNDER the fretwire like I want. Eventually I was able to devise a technique to fit the glue under the fret wire; Just put lots of glue on the fret wire. This worked, but meant I had to very quickly wipe the glue off the top and sides of the fret wire before pinching it. I don't have exact (pun intended) gap measurements to work with, but there's a rule of thumb with frets on a guitar, you can't slip a sheet of paper under frets, and I was able to do that quite easily with multiple frets. Using this rule of thumb, I'm guessing that I was trying to squeeze this adhesive into a space between .006 and .015 inches wide so even a very thin applicator tip couldn't gently push the adhesive in, although I still need an applicator tip to do so. The bottle was slightly smaller in both inside and outside diameters. All said and done, this glue got it done. Not only do I no longer have any choking tones or string buzzing on my Schecter, but the playing is noticeably smoother, especially when sliding up and down the fretboard for long periods. If I use this bottle and need more I may look into other brands to see if they offer a thinner applicator tip, but if in doubt I'll stick with the Gorilla brand.

Pros
  • Hassle free application: precise, controllable dispenser that fits comfortably in your hand
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
