Review on Bilstein 24186728 Shock Absorber Tacoma by Robert Ducki

Christmas gift for yourself

One star deducted because the puck stack was not obvious. Factory discs fit better. Installation took 40 minutes as it took some effort to get the bottom bushing into the bracket. After a quick IPA lube, they went in smoothly. There is a hex on the top of the bolt that you need to hold onto while installing the top nut, unlike the OEM which had a flat side. The only problem was that I didn't have a crow's foot adapter to tighten the top nut. I did notice the stern was raised after installation but thought it would go down after the bushings settled. The ride is stiff but firmer than OEM but feels great on the road. They also look a lot better than the rusty stock shocks. I have 0 buoyancy so the hull is too compressed. Once I add a 1" tail block lift I'm sure the trunk will look better. Not bad for under $150

Pros
  • Durable surface
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
