LESS SCARE THAN AIRLOCKS

I ordered two of these sets, one 7 months ago for myself (no recipe book) and most recently for a friend as he included a recipe book. I wasn't able to use my kit because admittedly I felt intimidated without a recipe book, even though I bought a few books on fermentation. If someone does not know how to ferment vegetables, then everything is scary because they are afraid of poisoning. A dedicated book/manual like the one now included will help build confidence as you follow the directions on how to use the actual product. Beginners need step-by-step instructions, we're a pathetic bunch! Although I thought this system was a bit expensive, it is easier to use than the gateway system. With the exception of the Mason jars, it has everything you need (now that it comes with a booklet). I like the brine stones as they help keep food submerged, they are much thicker than the ones I bought to use with the sluice system and the brine tubes are not as messy as when using sluices. Tamper is convenient for packing products in jars. I couldn't find a printed copy of the Mason Tops recipe guide, but I did find some really good starter recipes from the Fermenting Club that list the number of days food takes to ferment and use a star system to represent ease of preparation. create recipes. Overall I love the Mason Tops system and hope to be confident enough to create my own recipes. Even though I didn't receive the recipe book, I'm very glad that it's included. Can't wait to hear from my friend who lives in another city so we can compare the results. She's also a little scared of poisoning, and we both threw away our first batch of cabbage with a different system and were afraid to try again. Now everything has changed. Thanks for the courage Mason Tops!
