Review on πŸ’₯ XFX Speedster MERC319 RX 6900 XT Black Gaming Graphics Card with 16GB GDDR6, HDMI 2.1, 2x DisplayPort, USB-C, AMD RDNA 2 by Blake Mannasseh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Surprisingly good, 5%-8% better than the reference model.

It's expensive. Let's get that out of the way. The manufacturer's recommended retail price is significantly higher than that of the reference model. However, you get at least a 5% improvement over the benchmark. Let's talk about noise. The fans don't spin, it's quiet on the desktop or when watching a video. It's quieter than my 2080 in games but could be even quieter if you're running AMD software and selecting the undervoltage preset. Undervoltage improves FPS from -1% to +1%. Maybe within the margin of error. However, this reduces the card's power consumption at full load by 10% compared to the standard. Less power, less heat, less fan rotation. Nice quiet game. (Continuous 0.5% improvement in 3dmark - Timespy Extreme, within error.) Okay, what about overclocking? When *Rage* is enabled via AMD software, it's the same as my 2080, which was stock. Still quieter than expected. This gives a 2%-4% increase in FPS (BFV). I don't know anything about manual overclocking; I only used presets. (1.5% improvement in the extreme 3DMark Temporal Espionage test. Above the margin of error.) SIZE: This is worth mentioning. It barely fit in my suitcase with my front radiator. I am talking about a distance of less than 4 mm. Be sure to measure before buying. I haven't and I was lucky. My case is a little smaller than average and if I didn't have a front heatsink I wouldn't have an issue. I think it's worth the extra cost. Yes, that's MUCH more than the price of the stock MSRP card. But for the price, you get great build quality and a significant increase in performance. WEAKNESSES: The biggest downside to this card, say 3090, that I've seen is software relearning. AMD has a very different software than what I'm used to. However, I'm getting used to it and actually starting to prefer it.
