Controller software is built using Arduino IDE with FastLED, ESP8266WebServer and Scheduler libraries. I am very happy with these LEDs. Each has an associated IC that is individually addressable and contains the 8-bit R, G, and B values for the LED. The FastLED library has a wide range of functionality that is beautifully expressed through LEDs. This becomes most obvious when several strands are connected at the same time. FastLED supports this and NodeMCU has enough power to push 6 threads through some hefty changes. I've found my 12V filaments to draw about 150mA each, although this depends heavily on the overall brightness of the filament. I bought a vein for the first time a few months ago. After a week of testing, I bought a box of 10. Every LED in every circuit worked and continues to work. Haven't tried them outside in the rain yet. They are well built and look like they will stand up to wet weather. I'll find out soon enough using the second box of 10 I just bought that this review was made for.
