The trouble with DVRs is that dumb drivers aren't always in front of you. I had a front DVR, but a family member recently got his butt hit and I drive quite a lot at night, so I thought it was time to get a dual camera that also records what's happening behind me. I chose this camera. because it had some built-in features like GPS and the promise of better clarity from the rear camera. Well, it offers both; The GPS automatically detects my time and date and records my location correctly and the rear camera footage is very clear. I have a little problem with the rear camera cable because I don't know what kind of connector it uses. The description says the rear camera is connected via an ethernet cable, but if that's true, then unfortunately it's not what I had in mind. This is a cable that connects directly to the rear camera with a proprietary connector on the other end, although it could be a micro-HDMI cable of some sort. I only mention this because while the cable is just over 19 feet long, it just isn't long enough to reach the back of my truck once I've routed it through the pillar and door frame. I'm temporarily hanging it in the cab until I find a suitable extension cord for it. But I think it's just something special for me. The mobile camera app is easy to use but could probably use some improvement in the future. The actual camera menu options are also simple and intuitive, and there's really nothing to confuse you. Once you've chosen your settings, just set them and forget them. One thing I would like to mention is that the camera records two separate video files for each of the front and rear cameras. Because of this, I would recommend choosing a watermark on the video stream so you can always tell which videos belong together. I took a short video capture of the front and back to illustrate the quality of this camera, I hope it helps. As I mentioned earlier, the clarity of the camera at night is important to me and I have no complaints. about that. Even if my windscreen isn't very clean, number plates and signs are clearly visible in the shots, and with the rear camera mounted on the outside, it's obviously important to keep that lens at least a little clean.
