For the first time, after a few minutes, I noticed that my phone would light up every few seconds as if someone had repeatedly unplugged it. I took out the charger to check it and it was very hot. The peak temp I measured was 142F. I managed to turn it off and it smelled like burnt plastic. I'm guessing the charge was aborted because of the heat, maybe a safety feature? The peak heating occurs during the initial charge. This lowers the temperature as the phone continues to charge. I gave 2 stars because they sent me a replacement quickly and kindly. The replacement reached a peak temperature of 139F. It says Samsung, it charges the phone, but I'm afraid my desk will catch fire if I leave it.
