I've never made paper beads before but I wanted to try before giving them to my 9 year old niece. She tends to be a little hyperactive and gets bored easily, especially when something new is too difficult. I found the tool to be well built and intuitive to use - you don't have to worry about holding paper tension with one hand while rotating the other - there is a spring mechanism that does this for you. My husband woke up at 3am to find I was still making beads because it was so much fun. As expected, it was a big hit with my niece! She spent a good hour making beads while playing with her other presents on Christmas Eve. Suggestion: If you are planning to gift this to a younger child, you can pre-cut the extra paper. This way, they can start beadwork right away without having to do the part that many kids find boring.
