This pitcher was perfect for making a gallon of iced tea. I put it in the dishwasher and had trouble getting it in so I prefer to hand wash it now. I also have to put it on a special shelf in the fridge because it's quite high, but I drink enough iced tea it's worth the inconvenience. The plastic is durable and heat resistant. My usual way of making iced tea is to place four Lipton tea bags in a medium strainer, pour in half a gallon of hot water and steep. After removing the middle section, I put a few cups of ice in the jug, and that's the shiny part: the plastic easily withstands temperature changes. I fill up with cool water, screw on the cap, shake to mix and then open the cap because the temperature change shrinks the outer plastic, but there are no cracks or other damage. I've brewed over 100 teas in this pot and it's still in the same condition - no haze - and the plastic did a great job in both the pot and infuser. I highly recommend.
