This item was a bit pricey but well worth it. It's quite heavy - probably around 3/4 pounds. You cannot accidentally move this stand as it will take some effort. It has a nice outer coating - as I would expect from an outdoor item. The part that holds the laptop has a super smooth finish and is likely designed not to scratch the electronics it's holding. There are four cushions on the bottom, which feel durable and shock-absorbing. The mechanism that controls the width is not strict - and that's a good thing! It has some advantages in case you need to put your tablet next to your laptop. It won't randomly make your laptop thin, but if you need to expand it, it will! I have no complaints about this little guy. Money well spent!
