Bought these to fit a can of .50 cal ammo in the trunk of my Nissan Frontier. They work great on side rails. The rail that runs through the front (just behind the cab) of the truck body isn't that deep, so I cut the springs off to use just the nut. Still works great. Been in the hills and over the mountains and in the woods with that ammo full of flares and spare fuses and whatnot. Holds up great. I used some flat washers and rubber flat washers on the ammo can to keep it watertight. I can post pictures later if anyone wants to see them.
