I bought this pen 8 months ago and it was fantastic. Since I work nights as a student, this will extend my biography from the bus ride to school to the ride home. I use this grip every day to play games and it has been a pleasure. The grip itself is made of a nice material, but I'm not happy with the finger rest position, it's quite uncomfortable BUT I've never had any real problems with the grip part itself. The problem now is that the charging port now works for no reason. I read most of the reviews and knew there were problems logging in, but decided to give it a try. A customer mentioned this exact issue, so I tried to amplify it by not playing with the charging cable, just charging it at night to try to be as light on the outlet as possible. (It's also worth noting that it takes a LONG time to fully charge this thing. At least 4 hours in my experience). Unfortunately it didn't work. I opened it up to see if there was anything I could do, but there's no real way to fix it other than just buy a new one. And the fact of the matter is, despite this issue, playing on my Vita has been such a wonderful experience that I might buy another one when it stops working completely. I don't think I can go back to 4 hours of gameplay. Will I recommend it? Yes*? If you buy it, just know you're more likely to have a problem. TLDR: Decent grip, great battery life, poor quality control, buy knowing the charging port can break.
