They are perfect. I pierced three holes in each earlobe and I had trouble with some of them trying to close and getting inflamed and irritating every time I put earrings on, so I kept putting on closed silver rings to keep from taking them off . I flipped them over to allow the wider side to fit through and allowed my piercing to adjust and heal. However, I took them off when I wanted to put on other earrings and after a while one broke. I bought these to replace and they are great! The gauge is wider than a 'regular' earring (I think it's 16G not 18G) but my piercers are already used to it. If you only wear regular earrings, it can be difficult to put them in and your ears can hurt and water. They are much easier to insert and close than the ones I've used before and once closed they are the same size all over so rotating has no effect. In fact, you can barely see the loop or clasp. No pieces stick out. They are stainless steel so they look "cooler" more blue than the ones I've had in sterling silver before. It's good, but more industrial and less feminine than silver. However, my worst piercing was silver chenille, so I think they would be better. In general I am very happy with them.
