This lamp was extremely easy to set up following the instructions that came with it. It uses Linkand's iPhone app, and the app needs to be linked to the Echo device to allow control. I've connected a variety of devices to the Echo this way and I have to admit that the Linkind app seems to work pretty well, with good support for both Alexa/Echo and the tube device. The luminous flux of this lamp is not the brightest. it stands on my bedside table and emits enough light for its purpose. Voice control is impressive: you can turn the device on and off, dim and brighten by speaking a percentage, or set a color by speaking the name of a color. You can also set your personal color/brightness preferences. The next time you turn on the lamp, it will remember the previous settings. Physically you can touch the top of the lamp to turn it on or off or adjust the brightness of the light. I suppose you can control a few other options this way, but I'd use the app or voice commands instead. The "mushroom" lamp head actually jumps up about 3 inches, giving a slightly larger light area. The lamp requires a 5V 2A USB-A adapter, which is not included. I have an extension cord that powers USB devices and I use this instead of a traditional adapter. This lamp is quite expensive, but it's fun, modern and a little different from other lamps on the market. I actually have another lamp almost identical to this one from a different manufacturer and I didn't hesitate to order another one so I think I would order it again. Both have worked very reliably so far and I'm not worried about the device.
