I would give 0 stars if I could. The packaging said it could operate in temperatures from -58 to 482F. I only heated up to 200. Before I got there, I noticed that half of the digital display had gone black. I put out the fire and went to get the thermometer. The internal thermometer wires are pulled straight out of the shaft. Before purchasing, I saw that another reviewer had the same experience. I thought it was an isolated case and bought it anyway. In my experience, I see that the thermometer has a significant design flaw. The upper part of the thermometer with display is only attached to the metal rod with glue. If the thermometer rises above a certain temperature (I had 190), the glue melts. If you try to pull the thermometer out, the clip (used to attach the thermometer to the side of the pot) will hold the stem in place and the top part will detach from the stem, pulling out the wires (see picture). Surprised there are no more bad reviews. If you want to risk this purchase, please note that the display is small and difficult to read. The box said go to the website for calibration instructions, but I couldn't find it on the website.
