Review on Transforming Art and Computer Desk for Kids - Calico Designs Ashwood/Graphite 51240 by Amy Maeva

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The keyboard tray is very small.

Since they seem to be mixing reviews of all these options, this review is about Calico Design's Children's Convertible Art/Computer Desk in Ashwood/Graphite 51240. It's a decent desk, especially for the price. But there are 3 big caveats: 1. This will be shipped via USPS. God bless our postal service and all their hard work, but they just aren't equipped to deliver large packages. It took over 2 weeks for our table to arrive (and we live on the same subway as the camp!). The postman didn't want to leave it near our house so he left a ticket even though I was home all day and was able to take it. I scheduled a back order, this didn't happen. I once had to scout a postal worker to locate the box and have it re-delivered 6 days later! Production must be shipped by UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc. Not USPS! 2. If you have a standard full-size keyboard, it all fits on the small shelf. You must have a mouse on the table; not ergonomic at all. You need a small keyboard with a non-numeric keypad or an ultra-compact keyboard to use a mouse on the same shelf. The table is wide enough to accommodate a wider tray; I'm not sure why they didn't check the sizes of standard everyday keyboards to make sure the mouse would fit too.3. You can't put all 3 shelves on one side even if there are enough bars/holes. Shelves are not designed for this. A little more engineering time and it would be entirely possible. Now the computer shelf is a waste of material. Being able to mount all 3 shelves on one side would make this table a 4 or 5 star product. This makes the table much more compact. Also, it is very easy to assemble and looks beautiful. Very cheap laminate so I don't expect it to last very long. But for the price I expected this quality.
