Review on Whetstone Sharpening MAP-13AL FAP-13AL BAP-13AL by Jasneet Jazzy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for EDC Best in Power & Hand Tools

I'm not very experienced at sharpening stones but I like to take care of my knives so I only use WorkSharp when I'm profiling a new knife or repairing an old one in case of failure (rock fall, mysterious chips, etc.). After that I just use the belt and these stones to keep all my knives sharp. I've read countless articles that Arkansas stones are actually slower compared to AlO or diamond sharpeners and based on my limited experience I've found this to be true. I don't dull my knives enough to notice it though and mostly use 1095HC Esee knives although I have some 1075 Condor blades and Opinel #6 stainless steel blades and they all on the right setting sharpen quickly. edge. If the strap isn't enough, I make ten passes on the black hardstone and check the edge, repeating this no more than 50 passes if I've really worked with the blade. Straight out of the stone, the blade is an impressive slicer, but 30 passes of the strap add extra sharpness to wood carving. Soft stone is similar to Spiderco Medium and gives a rough but dangerous edge, while hard stone is finer but still noticeably rough. All but the tiniest nicks and chipped edges require something rougher than soft stone, but a very slight rounding or dulling of the edge is easy to fix.
