Growing up as a city kid in another country, life on the American farmstead was always fascinating but very foreign to me. Ten years ago I never imagined that I would be on the cusp of a new adventure, moving to a homestead and growing my own food. Our lifestyle goals changed when we heard about Joel Salatin and his quest to return to "normal" food culture. I was so happy to find Jill and her new cookbook in this community. Jill's recipes are easy to follow, her photos are beautiful and the book is inspirational! The principles in her book give me the courage to attempt this seemingly impossible feat of feeding my family in the healthiest possible way. Her explanations are succinct and complete, but lack the harsh power that often accompanies recipes for unfamiliar dishes. This book gave me hope to raise my kids on healthy eating in the age of fast food.
