Review on Aqara Security Camera: HomeKit Secure Video Indoor Camera with Night Vision and Two-Way Audio by Patrick Cox

It's hard to tell if the bugs are related to this product or HKSV restrictions. I've always preferred wired cameras, but these days that's not an option for a home kit. The Wi-Fi camcorder works perfectly. My placement outside the window, at an angle, isn't a very good premise for checking the quality of the video. But even with these limitations, the video is enough to see the person at the door. The selectable motion sensor zones are really a Home Kit feature, but it works well with this camera. As a home camera so ok. I can't complain or sing praises because the functionality is really Apple dictated. But the double use as a hub proved to be quite useful. I have the camera far from most of my other devices and hubs so it can be useful where it is. I picked up an Aqara door sensor at the same time I needed an Aqara hub. It's very responsive, but still pretty close to the camera. Later I took the Aqara light switch which is further away from the camera/hub and it works great. These 3 are my first Aqara purchases and they work perfectly. I've had a few instances where the door sensor was a few seconds late, but all other times (hundreds) it worked right away. I don't use the Aqara app at all and control everything through the Homekit app. It's a bit odd that the items don't show up as separate, standalone devices, but the app shows them all as their own devices. This makes sense since the center actually recognizes them all. Aqara climbs up my list of 'good' home kit brands. It's nice to know that there are other reliable ones besides Lutron. Aqara's price is better, so it's a real option now. I'm starting to realize that hubs that require devices are much more reliable than Wi-Fi devices. The requirement for a hub is definitely a plus in my opinion, but hubs should have lots of compatible devices. Akara is starting to move up my list.
