CHECK OIL DATE CODES

UPDATE: Seller has replied and corrected the error by replacing expired fluids. Although unfortunately I received an expired fluid, I am very grateful to the seller for fixing the issue. Will buy from here again in the future if needed. Many Thanks. The product was reasonably priced, arrived on time, and was just what I needed to get my car manufacturer's warranty. However, I have an issue with date codes on containers that read "021413". I assume the oil was made on February 14th, 2013. The typical recommended shelf life for oils is 5 years which means the 2 bottles I received were past that date when I received them. I can also say that they stood for quite a long time because the containers had old markings that were partly soaked with oil, which can happen with containers that stand for a long time. I have contacted the seller who originally responded but I have not yet received a follow up email regarding the product audit regarding the issue. I contacted MOPAR directly to verify the date code reading and expiration date but was referred to my local Chrysler dealer (wow, thanks). The local dealership staff never heard of expiration dates or that MOPAR oils even had date codes (something amazing and sad lol). One of the guys told me he has several barrels of 10 year old gear oil at home and still uses it (that should put my mind at ease lol). Just so you know, oil does deteriorate due to the breakdown of oil additives that separate out over time combined with moisture absorption, especially if the container has been opened. This is especially true for oils of the usual type. Will the oil be usable? Probably. But as the oil is now 6 years old and only now being used I will not leave it there for the suggested time which will cost me more if I have to replace it again. So make sure you CHECK the DATE CODES on your oils to ensure they are not trying to foist their old and possibly expired oil stocks on you. Safe Travel, B
