This product appears to do exactly what it says on the tin: protect against surges. However, it dampens the signal in the 0-862 MHz range too much for my setup. I just installed the Spectrum 1 Gb service (actually 920 down, 44 up) and the installer said my signal was too high (+16dB). He installed a -7dB splitter to attenuate the signal. I figured -20dB for the 0-862MHz frequency band would be fine. This would put me at -4dB, still within range for the cable system. However, after installing it, I ran a speed test and found that performance dropped sharply. I am currently getting 730 down and 37 up. This is quite a significant loss. I'll leave it like that for now, but I'll look for another solution that doesn't weaken the signal as much.
