Okay, first things first, this thing just stinks. It has an intense petrochemical smell. A few minutes after unpacking, the whole house smelled of it and my son asked me as soon as I walked in if I had spilled any petrol. He spent a week sitting and airing on the side patio and he still smelled strong enough for our vet tech to ask about when they got our cat outdoors. The next day I rode in the cold too. with the windows open to get the smell out of my car. Now it's been airing out for a few more weeks and it still stinks when I pick it up and smell it. It's aside. The mesh part of the doors is not very strong. Our six-month-old kitten put his front paw on it, tried to open the door to get out, and almost effortlessly clipped three to five strands at the claw. In the first 10 minutes he was there, he likely cut through another dozen spots, including at least one with his teeth. By this time we had put his siblings in their tote bags and after we loaded them all into the car his battle with the web was over. I'm sure he could have gotten out of that vehicle by ripping open the grille on the fly if he really wanted to get out. We've only used it for one vet visit so far, I haven't even opened the side panels yet. On the plus side, the top handle is great for carrying, and the whole thing feels more durable than our last padded side holder, which I always felt like the bottom would fall out when using the top handle or the other we have Tried it in a store that felt like the sides were squashed because it had strap handles that went down and gathered up at the top. The inner padding on the floor was also very soft.
