The lens is good for its price. Even very good. It allows you to maximize the capabilities of the matrix of the device. I do not recommend taking it as a replacement for the whale one, because the angle of view is clearly not enough for you (if you are not shooting at ff). It is well suited for leisurely creative shooting both on the street and at home / in the portrait studio and whatever you want. Separately, I want to say about bokeh (background blur). In most cases, the lens is recognizable by the pentagonal washers. Some people get annoyed, some don't. You decide. Image sharpness is high. But the drawing itself is simpler and "straight" than on the same 50 1.4. I draw the attention of people who shoot in automatic modes. In more or less dark conditions, your device will start to set the aperture to 1.8, and this will lead to a blurry picture. Many, even expensive lenses suffer from soap at extreme values, especially fast ones. So the EF 50mm f / 1.8 II starts shooting normally from aperture 2.2. Hence the statements that he is worse than a whale (18-55), and so on. Learn manual shooting modes (in the "creative zone"), such as Av, and you can improve the quality of your photos by 30 percent with any lens. You also realize that most scenes are shot at apertures of 3.5 - 8, and night panoramas at 6 - 11. Among the shortcomings, a flimsy (only in appearance) design can be noted. Makes a lot of harsh sounds when focusing. Tight AF / MF switch. The focus ring itself is not informative and should not be taken seriously. Autofocus speed is normal, without any complaints. Slightly slower than 18-55 and can sometimes miss. But it all makes up for it with the quality of the pictures. Be careful when changing optics. The lens is very light and almost not felt in the hands - you can accidentally drop it. In general, the lens is so inexpensive and good that it can be safely recommended to photography lovers (with a lack of funds for 50 1.4 and an unwillingness to smoke Soviet fixes with your hands, you will come to this later).
