This helmet was bought to replace an aging Shoei (about $300 when it was new 25 years ago). Most of my rides these days are normal, weather permitting, chugging on back roads and rarely going above 45 mph. I usually wear a half helmet, but wanted something for those cool New England spring and fall days. I wasn't willing to shell out another $300 for a helmet I could use 6 or 7 times a year so I ordered this one thinking I could always return it if it turned out to be junk. Far from it, although I'm sure it doesn't offer the high-end safety offered by the famous helmet, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The fit and finish is decent, the vents work well after a few tries, the visor stays where you put it, and the inner fit, while a bit snug, was comfortable and will probably get better the more I use it. The wind noise was quite acceptable in my opinion, but I'm sure it's higher than a Grand Slam. If you're crossing the canyons on a sports bike, spend the extra $$$ and buy the famous helmet. If not, try one of these (or a more expensive version) and you will be surprised. For those who complain about the stuffing dangling inside. It's removable and washable, so it requires a certain amount of fiddling to get it back in place when removing the helmet.
