That's a good idea; low power consumption

Update December 2017; the second Power Blanket no longer works. Both units simply sat on 55 gallon kegs in an air conditioned warehouse. Both are still in "like new" condition. PowerBlanket has not yet answered an email or call. 2 x $300 per window. 55 gallon model for $300). We have tried (2) units and both have failed within 6 months of use. In comparison, rubber band drum warmers (about $180) and metal drum straps (about $300) work alongside power blankets. All of them (about 15) worked before the advent of PowerBlankets and still work. That's a good idea; Low power consumption but poor performance. Stay away from those cheaper PowerBlankets. The lack of response and support seems like a clear sign that they know they have a problem with them. Yet again; we just mean the cheaper PBL55F line. Scrap metal. Upgrade in 6 months. Device DEAD, still in new condition. Purchased (2) devices and the 2nd still works. But obviously 50% performance in 6 months is terrible. Plans to buy more devices are now on hold. Back to thermal belts! They work great. We have been using heating tapes (rubber and expensive metal parts) for 20 years. They use less electricity and heat up the drum much faster. And easy to care for. We bought more after trying them. We heat barrels with epoxy resins.

Pros
  • Pre-installed internal thermostat prevents product temperature from exceeding 145 degrees F (Β± 5 degrees F/3 degrees C)
Cons
  • unreliable
