YUP! This is how all electronics should work.
When my Scepter TV remote broke I went to Walmart to have it replaced and they sold me a "universal" programmable remote that should work with any TV. After trying all the codes for an hour to no avail, I took them back, went online, found the exact same remote and ordered it. It arrived within 2 days and worked the first time I pressed the "on" button. Hallelujah! If only all my digital stuff was that easy to manage.
