Review on Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 II camera, black by Adam Chyliski ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like everything, the price and quality are acceptable.

I bought it primarily as an apparatus for traveling family members - they ignored the DSLR in principle, even if they managed to promote it for "taking with them. " The Mk1 looks like a smarter buy - more compact, and it doesn't shoot as bad as it does for less. And yes, for me the rotary screen is the weak link. I leaned towards M2 because of wi-fi and the ephemeral benefits of having a "shoe". The first digital soap box in the family was the Sony V1 (I’ll omit the canon g5, because they didn’t perceive it as a soap box), then the device was bought by color / design - I spit on most of the photos taken by the t700. Now relatives grumble - nevertheless, RX has weight , and the dimensions (when compared with flat under-cameras) are present, but I believe that they will love RyKsu when they savor the quality. You need to understand that a priori you will have to add extra to the price of the camera. a battery with a charger (I don’t advise you to take a travel option, so the ACC-TRBX battery / charger kit remains, plus 2 thousand. By the way, the charger is compatible with a ty cloud of battery formats, it fits both the elderly V1 and the t700, besides seems to be the charging stage), a protective gl on the monitor (PCK-LM15, more than 600 re), I plan to add my own external handle (AG-R1 - not yet for sale with us - I believe that a stable grip with one hand will appear with it, that's another 20 bucks). With the latter, you will have to forget about the holster case (which we want from Ibei) - the thing is not designed to be removed / installed, but it will not fit with it. In the video, the digital zoom always plows, and the transition to it without a step - a typical soapbox user will not even understand how he killed the video sequence . Wi-fi: I don’t know how it is with android devices, but on iOS you need to lightly tap on the tambourine - a bit too much manual manipulation to start the process. Branded applications are designed for Windu, Mac in flight (although I found an application for it on the net, but the link turned out to be broken, but maybe they will fix it), Sony's "cloud" service, no doubt, does not support 2022. Signs, as usual, are not enough, that's why I stop.

Pros
  • In a very compact case, a decent functionality (remembering the Sony V1 with NightShot and a laser AF istant, I understand that they could show off harder), the feeling of a quality thing is not yet a watering can, but not a cheap parody of a camera, to which many initial DSLRs. Still, high-aperture optics on a low-noise matrix is ecstasy. I got less pleasure by switching to the third Piatak canon, because there I expected low noise. And here - a soap dish, but it makes a little more noise than mk3 (I will keep silent about the loss in details, I did not compare) - the first soap dish in my memory, with which you can, if desired, not use the flash at all (for me this is a huge plus , I do not like the clumsiness that blitz brings to photography). The feeling of unreality of what is happening is difficult to explain in words - in a pocket size, the power is comparable to a good APS-C SLR (this is IMHO, we understand that things are different). But only this trick, I repeat, you can always carry with you in your pocket, if not pants, but sweaters / jackets. Focusing is very peppy, in the twilight it breaks a penny of canon (of course, when it is without a wound flash that turns on the AF illuminator), which already adds potency. The manufacturer, of course, was cunning, putting an oversized loop under the wrist in the kit - unreliable, it is desirable to use this camera with a full-fledged shoulder strap. Someone scolded, but I liked the tracking focus mode, which clings to a point in the center of the frame - in the absence of a touch screen, this is a real way to catch exactly the object you want in motion. I’ll make a reservation that it only works adequately for a single frame, the marketers stuck in serial shooting only for their loved ones. Responsible (by soap standards) management through 2 function selection dials. The front one is blunt in response, though, and spinning without felt clicks (imitation of sound does not count), but it drives everything you need. Yes, the built-in level is a nice addition to any camera. The ability to direct the flash close to the vertical is a plus!
Cons
  • The menu is too confusing - some settings are piled up, as if without any logic. Of all the modes for displaying additional information on the screen, I did not find the optimal one - they could make it possible to customize to taste. I'm used to controlling the battery reserve on soap dishes, and it is possible only with a fair amount of icons on the screen. From here: Sony used in a fresh camera, I emphasize, a battery that does not show in detail the residual reserve (for some reason, this feature is available on a 5-year-old camera of the T series). I tried to charge via USB - I marveled at the genius of the developers - a very delicate design, I was afraid to break it, and in order to get there you need to adapt and stop drinking. ) The advantage of the solution is the ability to communicate with the camera when the battery is dead. Rotary screen loosened, right side. Moreover, the backlash is minimal, less than a millimeter, but accompanied by a click (if I didn’t know, I wouldn’t take a steam bath, but now I just want to touch it again, damn it) - it feels like a sickle in one place (didn’t check if there is such a new for others, is this the norm? ). I didn’t prick the nuts with the camera, the maximum intensity was, perhaps, when trying on covers. I will try to fix it under warranty. The camera is compact, but in a standard soap case, compactness cannot be maintained. And the regular leatherette cover - "muzzle" - a shame for a lot of money. I thought about ordering such a Chinese tailoring from Ibeya, but from a sane material of animal origin. At the wide end with aperture, everything is very good, but at the long end there is no fountain at all, and this is felt, and not just a reason to grumble. Without a protective gl, the screen will be killed at the expense of Times. With him, if you do not find fault, it looks normal, adds another millimeter to the depth - it would seem, a little, but in the aggregate it is a little fat compared to mk1. Maybe I didn’t find it, but why in “advanced” modes it is impossible to set the front control ring to command fixed (28/35/50, etc. ) zoom positions? It’s more convenient for me, but for the sake of him in the "green zone" will you order to shoot?
