Review on πŸ’ White Sennheiser CX 400BT True Wireless Earbuds - Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones with Noise Cancellation and Customizable Touch Controls for Music and Calls by George Saunier

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great "regular " true wireless headphones

Summary: Better sound quality than most, cheaper than premium active noise canceling headphones, and always connected. My background is a former audio engineer/musician, so my other headphones are custom quad speaker in-ears. I don't expect this level of quality from a $2-300 wireless set, but I don't accept poor sound quality and I like the relatively flat response. I've tried the Jabra 75t and other cheaper ones before. Units couldn't cope with the sound quality and dropouts. I'm not a fan of overly bombastic EQs (Jabra in particular had incredibly powerful bass in a bad way.) **Good** - Sound quality is great for $200 headphones. The EQ setting was minimal to get it in the "best spot" where I could hear everything. The highs and transients could be a bit smoother, but it's all there and you can boost/cut whatever you want, not just fix serious problems. The soundstage is impressive for something so small and (relatively) inexpensive. The connection is much better than what I had before. I've had fallout before when cycling with other devices (connection distance 3ft) and with them I can walk across the room and there's no problem. Time will tell if this applies to other use cases as well, but so far so good! Battery life is 7 hours by default, plus more with a case. Anyway, longer than I've ever used them in the same setup. - USB-C charger. I like USB-C and use it for most of my other devices, so it's convenient. The Android/iOS app is great and easy to use. Relatively easy to set up/connect.** Not so good** - The right ear is for solo stuff only - doesn't bother me and they tell you so specifically in the instructions, but keep that in mind if you're a left ear person . - No ANC - I didn't want active noise cancellation, so it's up to you whether you want it or not. The ANC version that Sennheiser makes costs $100 more, so it's up to you to decide. Somewhat unreliable firmware updates that take 45 minutes. I hope I don't have to do this often, so I don't care. Overall I'm very happy with them - I was waiting to see if they would come out with a cheaper version than the Momentum Wireless 2 and this is the answer to my query! I will update this review if anything goes wrong in the future but for now they seem to be a guard.
