This splitter/charger/surge protector is as described, plugs into a top/bottom (3 pin) dual ground socket and screws into the center threaded hole of the patch panel. Because the phone/tablet stand sits over the top plug, it will not function as a stand unless your outlet is oriented vertically. The blue light on the top stand is bright and widely diffused by the stand's clear plastic rim, making it a great night light but difficult to ignore when in a bedroom where the blue light can disturb sleep .
