Works, but locking partitions can be annoying.

I refused to buy sticks for a long time. I hate to admit that I'm getting old. But now that I have them, I kick myself for not doing it sooner. Getting down to business, my main complaint is the friction locks. I've used friction locks many times so it's not rocket science. But for some reason they seem fussy. There were times when I was sure I blocked them, only for them to collapse after a few steps. Adding to the disappointment is that they are locked so tightly I can't untie them. So I locked, unlocked and then locked each connection again before using it. This isn't the best answer, but it works for me and only takes a few minutes. I have to admit if I had seen how they block before buying I would have gotten something else. Looking at the picture I thought you would twist the hinge knobs to secure it. Instead, rotate the entire section. Be sure to pay attention to the top post, where white arrows indicate which way to turn to open or close. YMMV. It has an anti-shock tip but I don't think I'm heavy enough to trigger it. I found it by leaning on a pole with all my weight. I hope something breaks down. So far I've only taken them on two trips. I've found the rubber tips to wear out fairly quickly and I'm planning on going to a hardware store to find a suitable (but cheap) repair/replacement. I'll try to update after logging a few more rides.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Very expensive
