As the title says, the clothespin is too heavy for my small dogs (4 pounds each) so I had to modify it (saw it off and put on a lighter one). If I knew how heavy the clip is I wouldn't buy it and if I didn't have the tools to modify it I would return it. I have the thinnest line available and the line itself is great but I don't see why I would use such a heavy clip - I think it's better for 15lbs and up. Small dogs love to be worked with and trained to perfection, and they love sand and mud just as much as big dogs (yes, my primitive Maltese love wallowing in the mud, splashing in the rain and swimming in the lake , like any laboratory or working dog) and they need a long leash to protect them from everything and it is very difficult to find suitable items for them and this leash is not available due to the heavy clamp.
