We had one of these that held a bronze outside hook on our front door in the harsh Indiana climate for 8 years. After the door was repainted with Super Paint by Sherwin Williams, the hook broke. We didn't know if the paintwork was the problem or if the paint roller was a bit thicker and the door therefore had a more textured finish. It was a fiberglass door and we really didn't want to include a screw hook. So we taped very carefully and sanded lightly where this tape would stick to smooth the surface and the hook now holds up well in direct sun on a 90 degree day.
