Used this to add a remote control receiver for a ceiling fan on my mom's screened in porch. Ideal size for this use and easy to drill appropriately sized holes for connector wiring. Just added along the wiring that ran along the top of the beam where the fan hangs. Comes with pre-drilled holes on the side of the base to be securely attached to a weatherproof surface and the receiver can easily receive a signal from the remote control through the box. Best of all, it's small and discreet and I didn't have to hang a fan underneath to accommodate a larger canopy for the receiver.
