This compact, high-bright LED desk magnifier is a significant improvement over the much larger round fluorescent clip-on magnifier. I am partially sighted (legally blind) but still have good eyesight for reading and writing - provided bright, even lighting and some magnification for very small writing. The LightView Pro Flex is the best loupe of its kind that I have found. Two bases are particularly interesting: On the one hand, a very stable base and on the other hand a clip-on version with a large and strong clip. I've used both and even just used the Flex to find a small item that got lost under my desk. Found! It's a plug-in, no battery, a lamp, and 6 watts is a lot of power for the LEDs that surround the lens of the magnifier. If desired, it can also be used as a regular table lamp - at a distance of 12"+- from the table surface, it provides an even illumination circle with a diameter of 18-20". Well! The only improvement I would suggest is a dimmer to reduce the light output when needed. When I hold a small object under a magnifying glass, the illumination can be so strong that it is difficult for me to see it. The color temperature of the LEDs appears cool (daylight) and the magnifying glass/lamp body hardly heats up even after many hours of operation. The magnification is good enough for my needs - it's not a microscope - and therefore easier to use. The magnifying lens is 3 3/4 inches in diameter; The overall diameter of the case is about 5 inches. A larger version with a rectangular lens and slightly higher magnification would probably be ideal for all sorts of both-eyed close-up work at a distance. Top marks for this device!
