I work in tech support for a database product so I'm on the phone ALL DAY. After 2 years of typing with my phone to my ear, I decided to take a closer look at the headsets. My workplace spent $150 on a headset that didn't work and haven't bought another since. This is an amazing headset - if you can figure out how to set it up. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to get this to work. Like most techies, I threw away the manual and just plugged everything in, hoping it worked. Well the volume was very low - the listen/speak buttons didn't do anything - after a few other configuration changes I finally went back to the bin to get the manual. Set it up EXACTLY as instructed in the manual - Connect your phone's handset to the Plantronics unit's handset - Connect the Plantronics headset to the south end of the Plantronics unit, then connect the Plantronics phone cord to the handset cord. When you do this, the listen/talk volume works - the mute button and the headset/handset button work so you can use your phone normally. After I set it up properly, callers told me they could hear me VERY clearly, especially when I turned the transmit level up high. My listening volume is FULLY REDUCED and it is tearing my ear. If you don't set it up exactly according to the instructions in the manual, you won't be able to use your phone's headset, your phone's speakerphone, and your Plantronic. headphones of your choice. Read the instructions - this time it's a must :) - THE HEADSET IS EXCELLENT.
