I have installed many aftermarket parts on my cars. This setup is great and far superior to most of my other "mods". Everything fits perfectly, even after completion. I chose this one with a dry filter as I have had past experience with lubricated oil on a '99 M3 and then had problems with the intake air sensor being affected by the oil. In addition, the cleaning effort is significantly lower with a dry filter. Plus banks say every 50-100 thousand km. (Hopefully that really means 50,000 miles!) Two gripes: 1) The OEM filter box can be really hard to come by. My 12 year old Ram 3500 is only 120k, but many of these OEM parts have become brittle with age and heat. Attention, because the box is held in place at the bottom by rubber grommets on the underside of the battery on the passenger side. There are pins on the bottom of the box that are pressed into the eyelets. According to the instructions, there may be resistance when removing. A little resistance, my ass! I've tried working with everything and pulling up one corner at a time with no luck. So I put on leather gloves for a better grip and pulled as hard as I could on the corner closest to the center of the truck. Unscrewed normally, with a loud click! Yes, the battery compartment tab broke off. Good luck fixing it! The other broke off easily at this point. If I had to do it all over again I would use a dremel tool and cut them into the bottom of the filter box. proposal for Mr. Banks; Include this notice in the instructions. 2) Another thing is that they reuse a pair of original pads. IMHO it's cheap! They need to give you new ones for two reasons: the originals on mine were very stiff and obviously old, and the filter change indicator isn't a tight fit in the socket, which I think can affect functionality. I'll probably get a new one. I really should get a new battery box but it's pretty solid as only the outer grommet is used as it's held fairly tightly by the top front bracket and the bottom one with its new grommet and screw. The bolt, washer and gasket system used is vastly superior to the OEM setup. Thank you for that, Mr. Banks! But one thing - these bushings don't hold up very well. The one I was able to install had to be a bit thicker to stay on my feet. Another thing is that the 2 clamps are 4.5 inches and should be about an inch longer. The existing clamps are barely sufficient to enclose the piece of rubber that runs between the turbine and the pipe leading to it. So you have to put on a rubber band with no clamps, then you have to tighten each clamp and wind the thread, and that's a chore as they barely reach! Fits great! Oh yes, an assembly tip. Connecting this hose to the turbine is much easier if you put the rubber part on the hose as far into the bend as possible. Then put it on the turbine and reinsert it. Would I suggest you use some sort of silicone spray to make sliding easier. More suggestions for Mr. Banks; Add this to the instructions and provide 5.5" clamps. I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the issues I encountered during installation. Hey Mr. Banks, I'll give 5 stars if you buy me a new $120 battery etc. Take care of the bugs in your awesome setup! Thanks!
