Great for prototyping

I spent about a week reading reviews and comparing to Anycube. I chose Elegoo because I already buy their Arduino products and use the boards in very complex microcontroller electronics. I don't need a 3D printer for making figures, I need it for prototyping, and in the past I've sent my .stl files to printers via 3D printing hubs etc. This printer has eliminated the cost of having my products printed by others. I was looking at the Formlabs line and the $4000 price point was just out of my reach. My last print made by others was heavily resized and when I saw how much money I was going to spend and how long it would take to make a proper prototype compared to the $249 Elegoo Mars, I finally pressed on the "Buy" button. This will be the third day of printing and I already have 3-7 iterations of my prototype. Resin is worth the money, but a little bit counts, and ChituBox also tells you how much your part is worth by dividing the cost of the resin by the volume of your part. For example, from 1 liter of Siraya Blu ($50) I can make 1250 small parts (reduce waste by 20% and I only get 1000). 1000 prototypes would cost me about $10,000. For comparison, just prior to purchasing the Elegoo Mars, I was charged over $6,000 just to make a mold for a version of this part. So this printer completely changes everything for me. I might end up going the injection molding route, but if the tougher resins hold up (lots of dates there) I might just print them myself. Incidentally, my wall thickness is 0.5mm and my parts are only 0.1mm. They are clearly visible. Now a few words about stench and toxicity. I've heard the word "poisonous" in some reviews. Let's leave that word aside. MSDS or SDS sheets are readily available for all of these resins as well as the alcohol you use for cleaning. I have an inexpensive North respirator and have used this mask for 25 years. Had to buy a second one about 10 years ago because I lost the first one. Forget paper masks. The fumes you smell are no worse than when working with epoxies, chemicals, or bleach. If the cover covers the printer and the epoxy layer, the fumes will be trapped and you won't need a respirator. I use gloves, but I also use gloves for all epoxy work I do. Cleaning is a bit of a hassle, but so are the dishes. Assemble a small assembly line. You can also see people using very large laundry bins. You don't have to be that big. I simply used a small plastic container to flush the print in household 91% isopropyl and a UV curing light. I rarely write reviews. This is good for others like me, DIYers, citizen scientists who need to make functional prototypes but can only find feedback from people making figures. I didn't have to contact Elegoo for tech support, so no comment. Nothing I bought from them worked so it wasn't necessary.
