In my application, this is connected to a deep cycle gel battery that powers the car audio equipment on the workbench. The open load is regulated from about 11 to 15V (I set it to 13.5V in my application). It consumes around 4.5 watts per wattmeter when idling. It has a fairly clean output that a battery connected in parallel absorbs all AC ripple. As far as I can tell the measured AC ripple is about 8.5mV. The fan only turns on when the device is loaded and is temperature dependent, not current dependent. Great little stock, meets all my needs. I'll update my review if for some reason it doesn't work.
