This is an almost perfect bag for a scout leader and with it being offered for less than $100 I easily decided to buy another one for my eldest son. There's a place to put essentials that are always loaded, you can add snacks, and there's still room for clothes or other gear for outdoor activities. Side straps hold the load so it doesn't slide down your back. With a 36-38" waist I make maximum use of the hip belt so be aware but this pack scales well from older youth to adults and the construction is military grade so it will last.
