Won't run off 12v battery.

I bought this to use in a travel trailer and utilize its 12 volt system. It blinked at me once and now it will not work off the battery at all. It still works with the AC adapter. It's too bright for what I wanted and I can't get the dimmer to dim it down to what I need. It just goes off when I get near the intensity I want.Other than that it works exactly as stated.
