Review on Filtrete Standard Filtration Sediment 3US AS01 by Dave Phobia

Overall great value for money, very happy with it. It seems to filter the water quite well overall, not as good as the Every Drop filter in our fridge but still very good. It reduces the water pressure a bit - not much but I can tell. Also, the mounting bracket under the cabinet is a bit cheap, and I hate cheapness in any product. It works, it's just a thrifty design. It appears to be made of FRN material similar to fiber reinforced nylon. It has two oblong mounting holes - these allow you to slide the head of the screw through the bracket and slide the bracket down into a narrower area of the mounting channel after which you can tighten the bracket. You must tighten the bracket VERY firmly or the bracket will come loose from the mounting screws! This wouldn't have happened if they hadn't made slotted holes - just small mounting holes would have been much better and would have prevented the mount from moving. I would have preferred the filter mount to be aluminum, but the FRN material isn't bad. Also, the instructions say there should be NO gap between the filter and the mount - this is incorrect. There should be a small gap, but not a big one. I pushed the filter in firmly as instructed and was unable to fit it further into the top mount without breaking something due to excessive force. However, a very small gap remained. After trying again and examining everything carefully, you can see that a tiny gap is NORMAL. So the guide needs to be updated. As long as the filter lasts as long as it should and the water stays clean, it's still a good buy.
