Can delete one of the links

Can delete one of the links in hand like in my pictures. This restricts positioning more, as the arm now only moves in an arc around the base. But this is what I wanted and I bought it hoping it would be possible. The screws holding the links together are very tight, but once they start turning, they come out easily. I bought two of these, they came in the same boxes but the bases are slightly different. The one with the wider base is 17.5 inches tall, compared to 16.0 inches for the one with the narrower base. I don't mind, so I keep both. This height is from the desk to the highest point of the metal stand (excluding the plastic cover). The supplied L-hex keys (hex wrenches) are terrible and way too short. It is very difficult to adequately tighten some seams (especially tile adjustments). Do yourself a favor and use the correct set of allen keys. 6mm for vertical clamping around the stem and tilt adjustment, 5mm for each axis of the connector (5mm wrench not included, only required if you want to remove the connector like I did, otherwise it is not needed) and 4mm for the column base screws (They are not pre-installed and the included wrench works fine). Each comes with two snap-in plastic cable management hooks for horizontal arms (looks cheap but works well), a single column vertical cable control/wrench mount (must be fitted to the end of a circular column, cannot be post-snapped, plan fitting accordingly), Table Edge Clamping Sockets and Hub Clamping Sockets. Also included are four M4x12, M4x16, M6x12 and M6x16 screws for the VESA mount and four plastic spacers that can be used for a monitor with a recessed VESA mount. your monitor(s) once and do not intend to move them during use.
