Switch works very well. The toggle switch turns the fan on and off. The sideshift then has an upper, middle and lower position for high, middle and low speeds. Not surprisingly, there are several comments here mentioning that the switch is finicky, with the "off" position somewhere between low and medium. These people should stop writing reviews and call the electrician on the phone before they burn down their house. The switch comes with 2 red wires for 3-way control. If you connect both red wires to the fan (load), the toggle switch will no longer turn off the fan. Refer to the instructions for proper wiring. Black to hot wire, red to fan, red with insulated stripe for a typical single pole circuit.
