Perfect size, easy to use

We bought this for our daughter's 10th birthday - she loved pancakes on a recent trip to Canada. The 13-inch size is perfect for home use: not too big, but big enough to fill. The diameter is just about right - I think a 16 inch size would be impractical for a hot surface. Tibos cooks evenly, pancakes are easy to remove and the whole thing is quick and easy to clean. We started with a simple and flat shaker, but I agree with other reviewers that a round shaker is the way to go and ended up ordering one. Watching YouTube videos of Krampouz was a great help in getting started - a light, gentle touch on the spreader is the best approach. As for my ten year old daughter, she still needs more practice with her pancakes but a simple spread helped and she loves making dessert pancakes for friends and family. regular use. Pancakes a few times a month and now a 15 year old uses it as a pan for pancakes etc because it's light and easy to use - our two piece pan weighs a ton. As mentioned, #Setting 2 is the magic number for the 'right' temperature and the unit will still produce consistent, even heat across the entire surface. I threw away most of the tools and got a Mastrad 13" universal silicone lathe (great for pancakes) and a set of 5 pins for about $16. I've found that once the dowel edges start to fade from cleaning the intermediate spreader, I have to put it aside and get a new spreader. They'll snap back into shape after cleaning and drying, but biscuits are key to spreading. If I end up having to replace a crepe maker, I'll resist the urge to jump on a commercial machine and get another. Light weight/ease of use has become an important factor.

Pros
  • I've always loved it
Cons
  • I won't say anything
