Great antenna for the price

Great little car antenna and I can still talk to people, the other one had a radio and the antenna could actually come out but I couldn't hear it. Well I have a radio with lots of channels and an antenna to match and I love it, great little antenna for the money.

Cons

Complete rubbish heap

The antenna is held together only by friction in a rubber casing that protrudes from the magnet. So if you go into the garage once or twice it will bulge out of the wellie which should not be used as a stress point. There is no spring to fix this. So, after going into the garage three times, Ariel falls out of the rubber sleeve. Get an antenna made by a company that understands how the antenna mounting system works.

  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • So far so good

Really short cable. good for accessories

If you are planning to create a backbone route using cable, go 100% through this article, you MUST BUY more unnecessary cables for a very simple task. In a 2014 Chevy Cruze, the cable does not extend past the back seat when needed to get to the dashboard. Just a footnote, you are forced to give a star rating or you cannot post the truth about the product, hence my "Real" is no star but zero. Due to the cumbersome return and other search due to lack of information about the product.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Not all will fit

It's great for portable audio and video

It's easy to fit but I need to buy the right plug before I can use it with my radio! Very efficient antenna for use at 2 meters and 70 cm. With this dual proprietary antenna on my car, I've had no problem hitting repeaters at 25 miles at medium power and getting great reports depending on where you are and what frequencies you can pick up on your scanner. The magnetic mount is extremely strong, so put it on. where you want it, because when you have it, it sits firmly on the roof of your car…

A dual band magnetic antenna is a great addition

I bought a dual band magnetic VFAN antenna mount for use with a portable transceiver. It was sent and received as promised. I installed the antenna on the roof of my work van. The mast is strong and offers excellent reception and transmission. I can receive stations just like with other antennas I've used. The magnet is strong and holds up well at speed bumps and beyond. 3m coaxial cable for easy access and installation in medium sized vehicles (antenna placement in roof center). Probably long…

  • A handy item
Cons
  • Out of fashion

This one didn't convince me!

The coax cable is only about 6 feet long, which means that if you mount the antenna on the roof of your car or truck, which is the only place you can place it with this short coax cable, you'll end up with 2 to 2.5 feet in the car. only suitable to sit in one place and not move, so the word MOBILE does not apply to this product in any way. I checked the antenna straight out of the box with an antenna analyzer, the SWR is between 1.8 and 1.9 in the 2 meter band. The 70 cm range could not be…

Looks good assembled Best accessory

This antenna looks well assembled and is very easy to assemble but when you operate the antenna analyzer on it the SWR in the amateur radio frequency band used is 1.5:1, approximately 147,000 MHz and achieves just over 2.5:1 on either side of this value. At 70cm, the SWR never drops below 2.0:1 in the HAM band, but it seems to work best at 462,000MHz where the SWR reaches 1.25. :1 and 1.5:1. It looks like this would be better suited for GMRS. I'll see if I can trim the top a bit so the numbers…

Magnet Strength: CB & Radio

I didn't install the antenna so I can't rate it an exact 1 as it requires a number. I attached the connecting wire to the antenna and placed the magnet base on top of the car. I didn't want to install the wiring until I could position the antenna in a good spot in the car for good reception and aesthetics. I had to go to the store and left the antenna on the roof of my car. I got onto the freeway, the speed limit was 65 miles per hour, and I overtook. To my surprise, the antenna flew off my…

Great antenna at a great price

This antenna has a good SWR at 440, very good at 144 and even fairly well out of range at 462-467. I get very good signal reports on all three bands. The magnet is strong and sticks to the roofs of my STEEL cars and trucks. I usually ride 75mph in high winds and haven't had any slippage. When I put my truck under the carport it taps the joists but only the top 6 inches or so and the springs seem to work very well for that. I'm smart enough not to expect even that from such a cheap antenna, so I
