Review on Salomon WILDCROSS Trail-Running Jacket by Cody Mckechnie

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Another Solomon home run!

Great trail running shoes if you are the right size. I've been wearing Salomon Speed Cross 4 and 5 shoes for a number of years and this year decided to try these Solomon Wildcross shoes. I have a size 9D in the Speed Cross line but they were very tight on the toe and uncomfortable in a size 9 so I had to return them. I chose size 1/2 and ordered 9.5D and they fit perfectly. Very comfortable, no complaints during yesterday's 7 mile hike up the snowy foothills of Mount Rainer. Note, however, that if you're used to the wider tip of the Speed Cross range, these shoes are noticeably narrower and, like me, you may need to size up by half for a comfortable fit achieve. As for the shoes, they are very well constructed and easily cling to anything the trail throws at me (rocks, patches of snow, wet boulders, gravel, mud, loose dirt, etc.) which easily gives me a feeling of confidence, overcome all terrain in my campaign. I'm impressed with the performance these shoes gave me on my first real hike in them.

Pros
  • Great shoe for jungle, rain forest and water. It is excellent for jumping off dry rock, not wet rock.
Cons
  • The shoes only come in one color, which limits consumers' style choices.
