I have never used these. My plan is to eventually make a stroopwafel, but today I started with chocolate chips. It didn't exist before either. I followed the recipe in the booklet that came with the machine. The brochure says to oil or spray the pizza grids before use. Then it was time to brush them with butter before baking the first biscuit. Interesting, did I read that right? do it twice do in between? I refrigerated the dough for 30 minutes and used a cookie scoop. The leaflet says boil for 50 seconds. It is too long. The pamphlet suggested placing the dough just behind the center of each trellis. But you want to place it at the end of each cookie grid. I've also found that 30 seconds is the best cooking time. They seem quite soft when lifted, but they get hard. I also bought a 4 1/2 inch cookie cutter to make them perfectly round as suggested by Martha Stewart which was a great idea. The grids are 5 inches, so you don't want anything other than 4 1/2 inches in the end. Cutter. The recipe made 12 pizzas. I made sandwich cookies - I melted the chocolate chips. You can sprinkle them with Nutella and powdered sugar and they make great ice cream sandwiches. As for the non-stick coating, I liberally sprayed the No Stick grid and sprayed it with a cookie scoop as well. I expected to have to repeat after each bake, but it wasn't necessary and I didn't put butter on the grates. After that it dried off wonderfully. My ONLY complaint is that the little feet are made out of sharp plastic. Rubber feet better prevent scratches on the work surface. Simply sand down the sharp edges lightly or use on a towel.
