I bought this scratching post because I convinced my mother to adopt three kittens that were born in our stable. I like it because it's not a giant scratching post that takes up a ton of space (like the one we have for our cat) but is still interesting enough for kittens. They like resting places and scratching areas are useful for redirecting bad scratching behavior. When building it I was concerned it wouldn't hold up to three 12 week old kittens playing/hanging out on it but it was great and really sturdy. Reading other reviews I also thought it might be too small but all three 12 week old kittens weighing 3lbs fit on the top perch. Assembly was easy, just note the different lengths of the poles...all three poles of the same length form the lower "hiding zone". I was so happy to get something compact and functional at an incredibly affordable and fair price. I will be replacing my scratching post in my own house with this for my own kitten who weighs 9 pounds.
